Batman Has Lost Some Weight, Become A CGI Creature In The First Posters for Justice League

All that tire throwing must have worked out pretty well, huh?

If there were Oscars for “hype,” the award for “Blockbuster I Keep Forgetting Is Coming Out This Year” would definitely go to Justice League. The film should in theory be on my radar, but after Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, I have lost pretty much all my patience with the DC Extended Universe. If Wonder Woman is anything better than dreadful maybe I’ll jump back on board but, for now, I’m not interested, tonal shift or no.

But even if I was actively looking forward to the film, I still think I would forget it was coming out this year. The November release date is just a strange one for a big superhero blockbuster, and it’s odd that WB really hasn’t started marketing it all that much even though it’s coming out in only a little more than half a year. Sure if you’re Star Wars: The Last Jedi you can get away with it, but this is Zack Snyder’s follow-up to BvS — it needs all the help it can get.

So it’s no surprise that Warner has finally kicked off the marketing campaign for Justice League, and has done it in a way that every other big blockbuster markets itself: by promising a trailer in two days with a bunch of nonsense clips. Three were revealed today, centered around Aquaman, Batman, and The Flash. Here they are below:

They haven’t released any video yet for the female and the black guy, because that seems fair.

Anyways, released with the teasers were some character posters, which are by far the more substantial pieces of marketing. These clips will fade into nothingness once that trailer comes out, but posters? They will be adorning the walls of every movie theater and overzealous DC fanboy for years to come. So get your first peak at them below:

I don’t have much to say about the Aquaman or Flash posters (they’re fine, whatever), but my god, look at that Batman one. More importantly, ask yourself why Ben Affleck’s Batman looks exactly like a still from Batman: Arkham Knight. I don’t even know if Photoshop is to blame — it literally looks like pure video game animation, not a real life character, and it’s creeping me the fuck out.

Aside from the CGI-ness though, it’s clear that Batman has himself a new costume, and looks bizarrely slim for some reason. It might have something to do with the computer generated effect, but he looks noticeably different here. I mean, compare it to our first look at the character in Batman v. Superman:

Noticeably different, if you ask me. But whatever, enough of comparing Batman bods. Technically they also released another poster for the film, but…c’mon. Do you really need to see it. Like, really? It’s SO boring, you guys. It’s just some bad font in a metallic 3D style, tilted slightly down with a spark on top! It’s really not worth your time but, fine, I’ll add it:

First Posters for Justice League

What did I say? Pretty lame. Let’s hope that we won’t be saying the same thing about Justice League when it hits theaters on November 17, 2017…but, you know, also fear the worst.
